C'est annoncé un peu partout, mais apparemment il y a eu un clash entre le réal et le studio pour des divergences artistiques. Du coup, le tournage, qui devait avoir lieu cet été, est repoussé.

Le projet n'a plus aucun intérêt.

Cary Fukunaga s'est fait broyé par New Line qui a pris peur sur l'ambition du projet initial 2 films dans la ligné de Shining à 2 mois du tournage à New York alors que le studio veut un petit film horrifique plus calibré qui coute pas cher. Rentabilité, zero prise de risque...

Given the laundry list of issues, it’s kind of surprising Fukunaga didn’t jump ship earlier. Among other things, New Line took issue with Fukunaga’s insistence on shooting in New York, instead of a cheaper location. The studio was also made nervous by the disappointing opening weekend performance of Fox’s Poltergeist, reportedly in part because that marketing campaign also featured a clown.

And those are the smaller arguments. The studio and Fukunaga also disagreed about the basic direction of the project. Fukunaga wanted his It adaptation to consist of two films, with the first featuring the main characters as kids and the second following them into adulthood. Jeff Sneider adds that Fukunaga was going for something “classy and artful,” along the lines of Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining.

In contrast, New Line wanted a single, more commercial movie. It felt iffy about the prospect of marketing a kid-centric movie to adults, and preferred to put the younger and older versions of the characters in the same film. Poulter’s casting apparently didn’t help matters either. While he’s a promising up and coming actor, he’s not exactly the kind of proven, big-name draw that reassures anxious studio execs.

Fukunaga had written the scripts for both It movies with Chase Palmer. Roy Lee, Dan Lin, Doug Davison, Seth Grahame-Smith, and David Katzenberg are producing.

As of now, it’s not clear whether New Line will go back to square one with It, or try and stay on track with a new director. Either way, the current incarnation of the project is dead. And with him out, it seems likely New Line will try and make the less artsy single-film version happen.

Now that he’s off of It, Fukunaga will likely shift his attention to some of the other items on his to-do list, including a TV miniseries based on Caleb Carr’s The Alienist and an anti-bullying drama about Joe and Jadin Bell.

Tant mieux! "Ça" est inadaptable sans perdre la richesse du bouquin, ou alors une trilogie avec 4h par film et -18. Si le téléfilm de 1990 est sympa, c'est grace à la nostalgie et à la prestation de Curry mais qui ne fait qu’effleurer cette œuvre magistrale.

Aucun livre n'est inadaptable. On entend souvent ça au final ça donne souvent des bons films (surout quand on voit que pleins de films sont des adaptations de romans).

Je sais pas si tu as lu le livre mais je te le conseille! Et tu verras très vite qu'un film de 2h en pegi 13 pour celui-ci est impossible. C'est comme si on te demandait d'adapter le SDA en 1h30 quoi.

J'ai lu les livres et franchement, adapter un livre ne veut pas dire lui coller à la peau. Ce n'est pas le même média. IT en un seul film de 2h30 c'est faisable AMHA. Le roman est excellent mais la fin part royalement en couilles et ça rentre dans mon classement des fins WTF (avec le roman TERREUR de Simmons). Toute la fin et la partie sur les origines de Ca c'est merdique à souhait.

Je ne veux pas voir la gueule d'une adaptation d'un roman publié aux Editions de Minuit.

Perso, je suis assez d'accord avec Way. Rien n'est inadaptable. Mais faut vraiment que toutes les bonnes conditions soient réunies, et là........

Ça dépends aussi le format choisi, ça pourrait prendre la forme d'une mini serie de 6 épisodes...

En tout cas ça pourrait être un succès, plus qu'au cinéma. Après tout les anciens l'ont découvert à la télé, ca préserverait le "charme" du projet.

Il est quand même bien naze le téléfilm avec Tim Curry. Jamais compris sa réputation.

Je déconne, sans dire que c'est un truc de fou, je l'ai trouvé efficace dans sa manière de dégraisser le bouquin de ses multiples détails, comme souvent chez King.
