Steven Spielberg aurait abandonné le projet, et Christopher Nolan serait en pourparlers pour le reprendre :

According to multiple sources, Nolan has set his sights on a sci-fi project titled Interstellar, which he is in talks to direct and produce. The project involves time travel and alternate dimensions in a story that sees a group of explorers travel through a wormhole. The script is based on scientific theories developed by a Kip Thorne, a theoretical physicist, a gravitational physicist and astrophysicist at Caltech.

Sources say that dealmaking has been underway for months and is described as very complex.

Interstellar is set up at Paramount but would be made by both Paramount and Warner Bros., where Nolan and his Syncopy banner are based and for which he has made the three Batman movies as well as Insomnia and Inception. (The Prestige was made for Disney.)

The script for Interstellar was written by Jonathan Nolan, Chris' brother, who worked on The Dark Knight Rises and The Dark Knight, as well as Prestige. Jonathan Nolan (known as Jonah) also has a "story by" credit for Memento, Chris Nolan’s breakout movie.

Steven Spielberg was previously attached to direct Interstellar and produce with Lynda Obst. It is unclear if Spielberg will remain involved, especially considering the director's planned next movie, Robopocalypse, was delayed indefinitely on Wednesday.

Regardless of how a deal shakes out, Interstellar has all the elements that seem to attract Nolan. Apart from his brother’s involvement, there is the complex and multi-layered nature of the story.

Ah non, voilà qu'on apprend que Nolan est en train de réecrire tout le scénario de son frère en y injectant ces idées : cette methode ça a donné 3 tres bon film et 1 raté.

According to Deadline, Nolan is taking the script that his brother wrote, and combining it with his own original idea, and writing a new script (the movie will retain the title). Thorne is still on board as a technical consultant. As for the exact story, yesterday it was said that it will follow a group of explorers who go through a wormhole, in a story about time travel and alternate dimensions. While today, things are a bit more vague, as stating it will "depict a heroic interstellar voyage to the farthest borders of our scientific understanding."

Malgré TDKR (sur lequel on en vient à penser que Nolan en avait plus rien à faire vu qu'il avait tout dit dans TDK), j'y crois. Les deux seuls films "fantastiques" de Nolan comptent parmi mes préférés, et je préfère largement le voir sur un projet comme ça plutôt que sur un James Bond sur lequel il souffrirait des comparaisons.

Oui il y aussi ça, l'impression que les Nolan avaient fait le tour du sujet et que sur TDKR ils ont cumulé les mauvaises idées bouche trou pour pouvoir sortir le dernier volet dans les temps.

À partir d'un scénario de Jonathan Nolan, le frère du réalisateur de The Dark Knight Rises, le film s'annonce comme une aventure spatiale épique. « Christopher Nolan est réellement l'un des meilleurs cinéastes d'aujourd'hui, et nous sommes très fiers de collaborer avec lui et Emma Thomas [qui produit le film]. Nous sommes excités de faire équipe avec Paramount et nous sommes impatients de travailler sur ce projet extraordinaire », a notamment déclaré Jeff Robinov, le président du groupe Warner Bros. Pictures.

Deux studio pour un film, Nolan va se payer un budget minimum 200 millions.

Si il peut éviter de nous faire un casting à rallonge ça sera un bon signe.

Vraiment déçu que ce soit pas Spielberg qui réalise ce projet finalement...

Selon CBM, Nolan voudrait que le personnage principal de son Interstellar soit interprété par Matthew MacConaughey. Le film suivra « un voyage héroïque à travers les étoiles pour atteindre les frontières de notre compréhension scientifique » et le personnage en question se nommera Cooper. Maintenant, il s’agirait de savoir si l’acteur de Killer Joe va accepter le rôle ou non.
Le film est attendu pour le 7 novembre 2014.
