Première critique : je commence par le meilleur

The fountain de Darren Aronofsky 9,5/10



6 ans après le chef d'oeuvre qu'était Requiem for a dream, j'attendais avec impatience le nouveau film d'Aronofsky. Après de multiples retards dûs au changement de casting et un budget revu à la baisse, je découvrais le film au cinéma le jour de sa sortie
Que dire si ce n'est que je me suis pris une claque visuelle et sensorielle

Tout d'abord, j'ai trouvé le film parfaitement maitrisé dans sa mise-en-scène : Aronofsky a abandonné ses effets de style clipesques qu'on trouvait dans ses 2 premiers films au profit d'une mise-en-scène classieuse bourrée de bonnes idées.
Ensuite la narration de ces 3 histoires simultanées, si assez particulière au premier abord, trouve rapidement son rythme de croisière avec de trés belles transitions.
La partie dans le présent est marquée par une interprétation magistrale des 2 acteurs principaux (Hugh Jackman et Rachel Weisz), la partie futuriste est marquée, quant à elle, par une beauté visuelle sans précédent (du moins pour ma part). Seule la partie du passé peut pécher un peu par une restriction du budget qui se voit à l'écran. N'empèche, il s'en tire quand même avec les honneurs !

Enfin, que dire de cette histoire d'amour si poignante et de cette quête vaine de l'immortalité ? Simplement sublime
J'en avais encore les larmes aux yeux après ma quatrième séance au cinéma !
Et la superbe musique de Clint Mansell et du Kronos Quartet ne fait qu'accentuer les émotions du spectateur.

Ces 6 années d'attente pour voir le nouveau film d'Aronofsky n'auront pas été vaines tant ce film est proche de la perfection.
Il me reste, maintenant, à acheter et lire la BD

Je n'ai pas besoin de préciser que ce film reste le meilleur que j'ai vu en 2006.
Je pense d'ailleurs me refaire une journée intégrale des films d'Aronofsky bientôt.

Deuxième meilleur film de l'année 2006

Tout comme The fountain, j'attendais avec tout autant d'impatience le nouveau film de Michel Gondry (sans Charlie Kaufman, son scénariste attitré).
Je tiens quand même à signaler que j'avais un à priori trés positif avant de voir ce film étant donné que je suis un fan inconditionnel du travail de Gondry (que ce soit ses clips, ses pubs ou ses premeirs films).

Je suis donc totalement tombé sous le charme de ce petit film qui est un véritable concentré du travail du réalisateur depuis ses débuts !
Bien sûr, on ne pourra pas crier au génie de la mise-en-scène tant on a l'impression qu'il filme à l'arrache mais ceci est totalement altéré par cet univers fantastique qu'il arrive à créer.

On a l'impression que les acteurs prennent un véritable plaisir à jouer leur rôle. Gael Garcia Bernal est parfait dans son rôle de mec perdu entre rêve et réalité et Charlotte Gainsbourg est surprenante dans le rôle de l'amoureuse tout aussi perdue.
Quant à Alain Chabat, il nous fait du "Alain Chabat" mais ça passe toujours aussi bien

Toutes les parties rêvées sont d'une grande inventivité (animation en image par image, scènes montées en marche-arrière, plateau de télé en carton, ...) et je me suis totalement laissé prendre dans cet univers du rêve.

Même si le film n'atteint pas la perfection d'Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind, véritable petit bijou, il reste néanmoins un ofni qui mérite le détour, voir plusieurs détours tant le thème du rêve reste un thème complexe.

P.s : Je conseille fortement l'achat du superbe coffret digipack 2 DVD avec son beau fourreau. En plus, on y trouve la version B du film avec que des scènes inédites ou prolongées. Cette version B ne se vaut pas à elle seule mais elle est un excellent complément au film original

Little children de Todd Field 8,5/10



Après un premier film prometteur (In the bedroom), Todd Field confirme les espoirs qu'on pouvait mettre en lui. Il reprend les mêmes ingrédients que son premier film : une petite bourgade bien tranquille des Etats-Unis, une famille sans histoire, puis il nous dévoile petit à petit l'envers du décor de ce monde qui parait si parfait.

Le film raconte donc la vie d'une femme que son mari délaisse et qui va tomber sous le charme d'un voisin, père au foyer, que sa femme mène à la culotte. Parallèlement, on suit le parcours rédemptoire d'un pédophile qui n'arrive pas à se défaire de son image, surtout qu'un flic en manque de reconnaisance l'a pris comme tête de turc.

Le réalisateur arrive à installer une ambiance lourde qui fait qu'on reste accroché au destin de ces personnages jusqu'au dénouement. On aimerait même rester encore avec eux une fois le générique de fin arrivé
A cela, il faut ajouter une mise-en-scène maitrisée et un casting particulièrement bon : Kate Winslet et Patrick Wilson sont parfait, Jennifer Connelly, malgré son rôle secondaire, arrive à donner de la substance à son personnage de femme forte et Jackie Earl Haley est impressionnant dans son rôle trés ambigü de pédophile

Certains trouveront que le film est trop long (2h10) et qu'on s'ennuie énormement : c'est le risque si on ne rentre pas totalement dans le film.
En tout cas, moi, je ne pourrais que vous le conseiller fortement : il fait partie des 3 meilleurs films que j'ai vu au ciné cette année

The prestige de Christopher Nolan 8/10



Christopher Nolan est une valeur sûre du cinéma américain actuellement et il le prouve une nouvelle fois avec ce trés bon film sur l'univers de la magie
Après la superbe idée qu'était Memento, le réalisateur se lance un nouveau défi : réussir à retranscrir à l'écran les sensations que peuvent procurer les spectacles de magie et on peut dire qu'il s'en sort haut la main !

Cette histoire de rivalité entre 2 grands magiciens du XIXe siècle arrive à prendre toute son ampleur grâce à l'interprétation de ses 2 comédiens principaux : Christian Bale égal à lui-même et Hugh Jackman que je n'aiamis pas particulièrement mais qui me surprend de film en film.
On entre donc dans une lutte fratricide où les 2 magiciens se rendent coup pour coup jusqu'à ce que l'un d'eux l'emporte sur l'autre.

On pourra reprocher une narration par journal intime interposé qui nous embrouille plus qu'autre chose. Heureusement, cette narration passe beaucoup mieux à la deuxième vision.
De même, j'ai été un peu déstabilisé par la tournure fantastique que prend le film lors de la première vision : il faut dire que je ne m'attendais pas vraiment à ça. Du coup, j'étais un peu perdu avec cette histoire de clônage !
Mais, une fois qu'on a bien compris l'histoire, on se rend compte que le scénario est d'une grande intelligence et que le film prend parfaitement forme

Pour ce qui est des seconds rôles, Michael Caine et Scarlett Johansson passent un peu inapperçus alors que David Bowie crève l'écran dans le rôle de Tesla, l'inventeur de la machine à clôner.

Enfin, il ne faut pas oublier la fin totalement inattendue que je ne dévoilerai pas pour ceux qui ne l'ont pas vu.
En tout cas, elle est superbement bien amenée car je ne m'y attendais pas du tout !

Pour conclure, je dirais que ce film au scénario complexe se bonifie avec les visionnages.
Alors, si vous n'avez pas trop accroché à la première vision, n'hésitez pas à le revoir
